The product I am analysing is a phone stand that I did as a project in school.

The function of this is to hold your phone securely so it won't break, and a place to put your phone so you know where it is, and it won't get lost as easily. Though it is not its sole purpose it can be used as a decor item as well (if you wanted it to be).

The aesthetics of this product has a cute and bubbly appearance to it as the phone stand was inspired by the idea of a doughnut and the style of POP art. The base colours hot pink and beige were used as they complimented each other fairly well and as it has the distinctive colours of a doughnut beige to represent the actual doughnut and pink for the icing. The eye capturer of the design is definitely the icing and the drips as they are added on top of the base which gives it another aesthetically pleasing element to it. Another feature of the product that is very captivating is the intricate detail to its face thus building on to the overall look of the design.

The materials used to make the phone stand were thermoplastic plastic and vinyl. Thermoplastic was used as it is recyclable and easy to work with the material when making the stand, in addition to this thermoplastic can be cooled and heated several times without any change in its properties which makes it reusable and recyclable, hence a better option to help the world from plastic pollution. Then the vinyl was for the detail in my case it was the sprinkles and the detail on the face.

The product was handmade, so it was made with a lot of care and that is how the product was able to get a lot of fine detail added to it. As the phone stand was hand made its durability should be stronger than something made in a factory, consequently making its lifespan should be longer too.

Ergonomically, the product is a small to medium-sized object, it’s light-weight and portable so you can carry it with you anywhere. Overall, the phone stand works efficiently and can fit the purpose of our lives and make things a little bit easier.

Who would want to buy the product? Taking the phone's stands design and appearance it the target market will mainly be for girls up to the age range of 20 or further depending on their different preferences. It would be a nice little Christmas gift or present for a friend or family.

The seasonality of the stand will be higher and better promoted in and around the time period of Christmas and have a steady flow thought the year for people who are buying gifts and for personal use as well.

Safety-wise the phone stand doesn't have any faults as it is too large to get into a baby’s mouth and the little drips are glued on securely. It is not that heavy either so therefore if it falls on to someone it won't cause any severe damage.

The weakness of this product is that it might not fit everyone's phone but a solution to that would that the sizes it is made in can be varied depending on what phone you have. Furthermore, its target market may be a bit restrictive.

Nevertheless, in conclusion, the phone stand is not only aesthetically pleasing to look at but also has a fun texture to it, has a simple but detailed design, and will fit and look good practically anywhere. Its materials also consider the safety of the planet and people and its function is quite simple for anyone to understand.

My personal opinion of the product is that it gives me a happy feeling when I look at it and in general to me a pleasurable look to the product. I truly think that this was a worthwhile design for me, and I am happy about it.
